Progress Unveils Major Update to Flowmon Platform, Supercharging Cyberthreat Detection with AI

Progress has unveiled a significant upgrade to its Flowmon platform, designed to supercharge the speed and efficiency of cyberthreat detection and network troubleshooting. The latest 12.4 update introduces IP Address Indexing, a game-changing feature aimed at accelerating network searches by up to ten times, enabling IT teams to quickly address security and performance issues in increasingly complex network environments.

The Flowmon platform, known for its AI-powered Network Detection and Response (NDR) and Network Visibility capabilities, now offers faster access to actionable insights, helping businesses stay ahead of cyberthreats. The standout feature of this release, IP Address Indexing, allows network administrators to track activities linked to specific IP addresses almost instantly, slashing the time needed for data analysis and troubleshooting.

In an era where networks are becoming more expansive and cybersecurity threats more sophisticated, the ability to quickly sift through massive amounts of telemetry data is vital. Sundar Subramanian, EVP and General Manager of Infrastructure Management at Progress, emphasized the significance of the new feature: “For many IT teams, retrospective analysis while hunting for threats amidst growing volumes of telemetry data can be time-consuming, especially in large and complex networks. In the ever-shifting terrain of cybersecurity, the urgency to resolve network performance and security issues rapidly—within moments, is paramount.”

Subramanian continued, “With the addition of IP Address Indexing in Flowmon, IT professionals can perform near-immediate searches to process IP address data swiftly, gaining critical insights essential for quick troubleshooting of their networks.”

The update arrives at a critical time, as businesses struggle to keep pace with the explosion of telemetry data generated by expanding networks. IP Address Indexing addresses this challenge by enabling near-instantaneous responses to key questions, such as whether a network has interacted with a known malicious IP address in recent weeks. This enhancement delivers a tenfold increase in search speed, empowering cybersecurity teams to rapidly identify threats and network issues. The feature also scales seamlessly as networks grow, maintaining its efficiency even as the number of monitored IP addresses increases.

Beyond IP Address Indexing, the Flowmon 12.4 update includes several usability and workflow enhancements aimed at improving network observability. The platform now sets IP Conversation as the default view for critical statistics, providing network administrators with quick insights into how various devices are interacting across the network. The Analysis chart has also been updated, offering customizable monitoring metrics that enable users to focus on the most relevant performance data.

Another key addition is the enhancement of Flowmon’s Monitoring Center, Dashboards, and Reports. External IP addresses now include detailed icons for easy identification, and the system prominently highlights IP addresses blocked by Flowmon’s Anomaly Detection System (ADS) blacklists, ensuring that cybersecurity teams can quickly spot and address potential threats.

Furthermore, the new release introduces flexible event reporting through Syslog messages transmitted over the more reliable Transmission Control Protocol (TCP). This ensures faster, more accurate reporting of critical events to designated IP addresses, further improving the platform’s ability to detect and mitigate threats in real-time.

Progress’s Flowmon platform is a cornerstone of modern network security, offering advanced AI-driven detection of cyberthreats and anomalies. The 12.4 update, with its emphasis on speed and scalability, reinforces Flowmon’s position as a leading solution for organizations grappling with the demands of today’s hybrid cloud environments.

As cyberattacks grow in frequency and sophistication, tools like Flowmon’s latest update are essential for helping businesses stay one step ahead. With the ability to process massive amounts of network data faster than ever before, network administrators and security professionals can ensure their systems remain protected, operational, and resilient in the face of evolving threats.
