Talking about Noir Arts (NPCC) means talking about one of the most unique and respected printing houses in the world of playing card design. Born outside the mainstream market, its story is not measured by numbers or trends, but by a silent and constant devotion to the art of printed cards. Since its beginnings, Noir Arts has been a haven for bold creativity—for designers who dream of projects that may not always be easy to produce or commercially profitable, but which deserve to exist.
For over a decade, its 350+ productions have captivated collectors, magicians, and designers thanks to their uniqueness and an almost artisanal level of production. Although it hasn’t always enjoyed the visibility it deserves—for reasons we won’t explore here—its influence is unquestionable. While others followed market trends, Noir Arts developed its own visual language.
What’s most admirable is that even amid the dramatic context of war affecting their country, the team at Noir Arts has continued its work. In the face of adversity, they’ve kept doing what they do best: printing art, beauty, and resilience into every deck. On the occasion of its eleventh anniversary, the company revisits one of its darkest and most iconic projects: DEMON: Echoes of the Abyss.
This re-edition is not a mere reprint. Echoes of the Abyss is a complete reinterpretation, an evolution that retains the original essence while transforming it through years of gained experience, refined technique, and renewed vision. The designs have been updated to reflect how these demonic entities and their influence have evolved over time.
To bring this multifaceted vision of hell to life, four editions have been created, each rooted in a distinct moment within its timeline.
The Awakening Edition – The Origin of Evil (The Past)
This edition takes us back to the very beginning—the first contact with demonic forces. The aesthetic recalls ancient grimoires and arcane manuscripts. The tuck case, deliberately aged and irregularly finished, seems to have withstood the test of time. Metallic gold details and deep embossing enhance symbols that appear ready to awaken. Each card acts as a seal containing ancient entities.
Hellfire Edition – The Scorching Fire (The Present)
This edition represents the current moment, where demons have crossed the threshold and unleashed their full power. The design is intense, with fiery colors reminiscent of glowing embers. The tuck case, ash-colored, is adorned with red metallic lines resembling burning veins. A demonic face embossed on the surface seems to push from within, as if trying to break free. The cards depict scenes brimming with energy and chaos, reflecting the present dominance of these forces.
The Relic Crypt Edition – The Buried Secret (Past and Present)
This version embodies the sealed memory of an ancient evil that never truly disappeared. The tuck case, in gold and bronze tones, features a central embossed piece reminiscent of a sacred stone. A demonic skull dominates the box, and a cracked red seal suggests time has weakened the containment. The cards retain The Awakening’s style, reinforcing the idea that these forces remain hidden but ever-present.
Chaos Abyss Edition – The Total Collapse (The Future)
This edition envisions the final stage: a world where the boundary between human and infernal no longer exists. The tuck case resembles a compact structure made of hardened ash, with a surface that shifts color under light. Its fragmented and worn seal barely contains the creature within. The cards, identical to Hellfire’s, portray absolute chaos—as if the abyss itself had crossed into our dimension.
To ensure each piece is a true masterpiece, 3D elements have been added to the tuck cases, using special materials that change color depending on the viewing angle. The metallic finishes include foil stamping in red metallic and aged bronze tones, applied with care to each box. The tuck cases are made from high-quality Italian card stock with a soft-touch finish and a special texture reminiscent of aged wood. The deep embossing throughout provides a tactile and visual experience that perfectly complements the design.
The cards themselves are made of premium German linen paper, printed with a high-end texture for durability and excellent handling. All decks are printed by NPCC with a premium linen finish, ensuring the highest quality in every deck.
In addition to the decks, two original 3D-printed accessories have been created for the occasion:
Orb of Power – The Sealed Enigma
Beyond the decks, the Orb of Power adds an extra dimension to the Demon universe. This spherical piece, made from a dual-color material that shifts hue with movement, functions as a mechanical puzzle. As its sections rotate, engraved patterns activate that evoke ancient symbols. Its internal mechanism hides a compartment designed to hold the decks. Handling the orb adds a ritualistic and mysterious component to the collection.
Demonic Stone Stand – The Pedestal of Darkness
This item serves as both a display and symbolic pedestal. Its stone-like texture, achieved with 3D-printed material and hand-applied finishing, gives it the appearance of an ancient artifact. The stand holds the decks vertically, highlighting the central skull and adding a theatrical dimension to the collection.
With this project, Noir Arts is not just celebrating its journey: it reaffirms its commitment to art and to those who believe in it. Each edition, each box, and each accessory has been conceived not as a mere product, but as a work that challenges the limits of traditional design and our perception of what a playing card deck can be.
Demon: Echoes of the Abyss is not just another release. It is a ritual of ink, paper, and fire that transcends time — a story told from the very first seal broken to the last card revealed.
